Lennox Park Master Plan 2025
Lennox Park and Cloak Oval form the primary open space within the well-established residential area of Old Beach, located on the eastern side of the East Derwent Highway.
In 2012, Brighton Council developed the Lennox Park and Cloak Oval Master Plan to guide the future planning, development, management, and maintenance of the open space, sports ground, and associated facilities. However, the Master Plan has remained largely under-delivered to date.
Why do we need a Lennox Park Master Plan?
✅ Growing Community Needs: Old Beach is experiencing significant growth, and the park must evolve to meet the recreational and social needs of a changing population.
✅ Outdated Planning: The existing Lennox Park Master Plan was developed over a decade ago and no longer reflects current best practices in urban design, sustainability, or community expectations.
✅ Improved Functionality: The plan will identify how existing spaces—like Cloak Oval—can be better utilised, ensuring they serve more people, more often.
✅ Connectivity & Access: There’s a need to enhance links between the park, the foreshore trail, Jetty Road, and nearby paths, making it easier and safer for people to move through the area.
✅ Grant Funding Readiness: A clear, staged and costed master plan will help the Council secure external funding from state and federal sources.
✅ Community Ownership: Through meaningful engagement, the plan will reflect local values and aspirations, creating a park that the community can be proud of and feel connected to.
Our approach
Playstreet have recently been engaged by Brighton Council as the principal consultant to prepare an updated master plan for Lennox Park. As part of our design process we undertake community consultation with local community and stakeholders to ensure the master plan respects and reflects the aspirations and needs of the local community.
🗣️Community Engagement Update
The first engagement session and community survey took place in May 2025.
We sincerely thank everyone who participated and shared their ideas.
📌 What’s Next?
